Miniature: Gouache royal portrait of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I wearing royal garb, painted on ivory, round gold pendant with jump ring at top and with brass backing, pendant measures 49mm x 65mm including jump ring, unsigned, with writing on back (see photo). Francis I reigned from 1745 to 1765. From the collection of former US ambassadors to France and Belgium.
